Question about rebooking inbound flight and P fare

Hi all, had a hiccup in one of our LIAT flights which has made us misconnect on a AC flight back to Canada. So we had to change our tickets to depart tomorrow instead of today. So not a SDC because not at the departure airport (and no other flights same day). Our tickets were P fares and discount J fares are available for sale but listed as C when you try to book a one way. But when I look at EF I see P ≠6 and P= 2 for the legs we need for tomorrow. Agent said no and booked us in C with increase in fare + change fee. Do the P fares I see on EF not translate to P fare available for sale? Or does the P fares I see on EF only mean that there is Lat upgrade space to Biz from a sun destination? TIA
