Competitor Dollar Tree has EMV enabled, so I don't see any reason why 99 Cents Only shouldn't introduce EMV. They even have touchscreen NCR registers that I am sure can support EMV by swapping out those old MX830s with some new MX915s with updated software.
NCR means nothing as the software they use is nothing like you see anywhere else. It looks custom which means a long time for EMV.
