Well, it does give you insight into the airline's pricing power. Not to get too "economist" on you guys and based on my understanding, in a perfectly efficient and competitive market airlines would have to price just above their costs...which would yield ticket prices based on distance, fuel efficiency, and load factors. Prices would end up being consistent across markets.
The less competitive/efficient the market, the closer the price to the consumer's willingness to pay.
Therefore, I don't think it is out of line to be upset with differences in pricing across markets. The fact that pricing is high ex DXB is because either there aren't enough airlines to compete, airlines are colluding (either directly or through indirect signaling, more likely the latter), Emirates has a truly differentiated product (maybe this is true ex DXB?), or a lack of supply.
Unless it is the third or fourth option, I think it's worth getting upset about. I agree that airlines should extract as much as they can out of a market, but there should be other carriers undercutting their pricing and ultimately dragging down EK's ex DXB prices.
