I personally wouldn't have organised such a tight connection on separate tickets.
It is near impossible.
I often fly your CX flight arriving at 8pm and it is usually late. The typical delay indicated by EF is 24 min. And there is often a long walk to reach the train.
I agree with
carrotjuice regarding no show.
Domestic tickets in Malaysia tend to be very very cheap, even on MH. But a last minute purchase for the next morning can have a higher price (or not) depending on the day. Hard to get a seat on Saturday mornings.
