You can now apply online without an account. I applied for the Union Pay Gold Card and was approved instantly. I was surprised as I thought perhaps all applications would need to be reviewed manually.
Considering that there are no-AF 2% cashback cards, these cards are kinda disappointing. I can see getting the UnionPay version if you travel to China often but that's about it.
