I have only recently looked into the possibility of paying for flights with MR points due to the increased value when holding a business platinum card and discovered something that I did not know about before. The flights that I am looking at are with Delta and the AMEX travel booking site is giving me a 12% discount on certain Delta flights if I book entirely with points, which, combined with the 50% points rebate, gives me a value of about 2.25 cents per point. Has this always been a feature of the platinum card? Does the discount vary or is it always either nothing or 12%? Does anyone know what booking class these special AMEX Delta deals book into (a regular fare class or a "special" bulk fare class)?
