From the passenger's perspective, it would be treated as any other misrouted bag would be treated, i.e., it will be delivered to your final destination. No one has any idea about the underlying PNRs involved.

If BA is unable to deliver the bag then another airline will be chosen to do it instead.

The airline at the passenger's destination may or may not be entitled to recover their expenses from the forwarding carrier in accordance with their interline agreement.
