That is an enormous generalization and largely untrue.
Fairmonts are strong in Vancouver, but there are other alternatives there.
In Toronto, the Fairmont is an aging property and there are several better alternatives.
In Montreal, likewise.
In some of the smaller cities (Calgary, Edmonton, QC, etc.) Fairmonts may be among the leading choices, but it would be tough to generalize and very tough to say they meet the standards of a genuine luxury property. Nor are they remotely close to the standard of the Fairmont Pacific in YVR.
Canada's luxury hotel choices are very limited, and basically non existant outside of the 3 major centres (Wickinninish and Fogo being notable exceptions). Just because something is the best choice locally does not make it luxury.
