Is your phone Android or iOS?

There is an Android messaging app that sends and receives text messages directly from your computer, MightyText, however, your phone has to be on in order for it to work.
  • My provider is AT&T
  • Will the Verizon desktop app allow you to send to non-Verizon customers? Is it simply a matter of putting in a set of phone numbers to a list? (I haven't downloaded the desktop app and played with yet)
  • My phone is an iPhone
  • There is a similar app for iPhone called Remote Messages.

I'll look at more, but am hoping for something simpler. Thank you.

Your listserv idea is better, but is kinda brittle. Here's how you send email to SMS. If you used this method, you could keep the dist list within your email client (maybe) and you'd have to update your mailing list when someone changes carriers but maintains their phone number. And using this method, only you could send to the distribution.
Very interesting, but still way more work than I am hoping to find. I really don't want to have to keep track of an update who is on which carrier. I'm a little surprised that there is no listserv-like website that makes what I'm talking about easy to accomplish.

Thank you. See my question to your earlier post, above.

ETA: Just tried installing the Verizon desktop app. Got an error message: "The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed."

ETAA: It still seemed to work, but does require a Verizon cell phone #. So that's not an option.
