For UK-based travellers, there's no revenue requirement.
For Premier Gold to get *A gold you only need $6k of spend and 60k miles.
If you fly BRU-HNL for £2k you get 16k miles on LH or UA. Do that twice and you're basically there if you're a reasonably frequent economy flyer.
Admittedly that's not as generous as BA but the redemption fees are much lower and the number of miles needed is a lot less.
