The difference between "Sold Out" and "Unavailable" is something of a mystery.

It has been suggested "Unavailable" means some seats have been committed to groups or Southwest Vacations and may at some later date become available.

It has been reported that sometimes it is possible to book a Southwest Vacation on a flight that shows "Unavailable".
