there was a similar discussion on the AF section a while back. IIRC what seemed to be the reason behind the differences in answers came down to what kind of ticket you were holding. they basically treat it like a ticket change.

so if its a full flex ticket, then it woudlnt be a problem. but if there are fare restrictions then answer would be no.
