If you have a full day, I'd spend it at Kota Tua (Jakarta's Old Town). Buildings are from Dutch colonial times. There are several restaurants and museums all within a few minutes walk of each other. The remainder of the city is mostly office buildings and shopping malls. There's a very large discussion thread on Jakarta in the Flyertalk Asia forum.
