Yes, indeed, this is very much needed if you are of a higher status when you made the booking on spg.
I emailed the hotel and notified them and today they responded that they updated my reservation and the correct status is showing.

However for those MR elevated members, there could still be a bug if you were already a SPG member with a lower status that even after being elevated in status from MR and making a reservation on spg.com logged in, your reservation might still be with your "old" status. [as I experienced].
