So Is is it worth 20+ hours in EC and $450 for Platinum. I'd probably take the 20K gift, and use it for my dad who flies between PHX/SMF a lot.
20 hrs is a lot of time. If the $450 isn't that much cash, sign up for the AMEX Delta Reserve card and get those 10k miles the easy way. Then you'll have status and you'll have Sky Club access for the rare times you do fly DL.
