Hi All,
I too stayed in this nicely designed new Jr. Suite as well days ago^
Without a Diamond suite upgrade
I was upgraded based upon the availability at check in
Agent asked may I upgrade you tonight and I said of course twist my arm

Its my hope that this elite friendly policy extends over to all Full Service Hyatt hotels when the New
"World of Hyatt" officially rolls out this March as intended
I would call HR LAX one of the nicest in all my decades of staying at LAX
Its hard to believe that till recently this was once on the most hated hotels ever at LAX
They got this renovation better than Starwood down the block who recently redid the Sheraton LAX.
I would call the Sheraton a somewhat disappointing refresh but still in the running and their bed is more comfortable than the Hyatt LAX and sometimes less expensive
Liked the HR LAX room better than Andaz West Hollywood or the former Hyatt Century Plaza
or the new redone Sheraton LAX.And suites are/can be bigger at the Sheraton for top tier Platinum members
The design At HR LAX is fun modern and playful though once again the beds are on the overly firm side for my tastes
The bathroom sink is tacky cheap looking plastic (though interesting from a design perspective)
Looks like a communal long prison sink where everyone shares the same sink

Poorly designed IMHO as it takes up almost the entire counter top regarding functionally for space.
Ladies won't be too pleased but I can certainly live with it
I am in the process of designing a brand new premium condo unit locally here in SD and will keep that failure in mind to use smaller sinks when finishing the design on the counters.Note to self
There were noticeable quality improvements that were dramatic @ breakfast.Baking was superior as was produce.
Sloppy food handling with buffet was observed on the part of the nice but disorganized service team.
Hours old eggs were stirred in with the new fresh eggs coming out of the kitchen (gross) No managers present at all in the dining room and a host stand with no staffing at anytime.
A server would have to look up or guests were left roaming around and waiting
The smoked salmon ordered off the menu was of poor quality

And an odd tasting cream cheese that was citrus infused that was way too strong.Oh well nice creative try anyway
The steam table stuff was better than average and a thousand times better than the former Radisson
Many of the former Radisson team members are mostly gone and I see smiles and caring empowered team members that reflect
more of the spirit of Hyatt many of us have generally come to know
Thought the dining room in their temporary space was awkward
One has to exit the hotel and walk around the outside of the building to enter
The hotel was extremely busy and the unfinished public areas look swell even unfinished. They are short on staffing throughout the hotel and everyone is working at capacity falling a bit short here and there
Do not disturb signs were ignored by housekeeping and even after entering with a confirmed late check out they stood there arguing when I was going to leave parking their cart outside my door ready to pounce upon my departure.Def Radisson US standard there!
I still enjoyed many other aspects of my stay none the less
However one thing that ticked me off is the Hyatt elite Diamond check in area sign.
It was hidden behind a bowl of apples and instead of checking in Gold Passport members they has 12 airline crew members checking in effectively shutting out elites

Added to that the plaque is clear and hard to see even in the best of circumstances
With some of the check in chaos aside its still light years better to the former Concourse/ Radisson If they stay on course the HR LAX will likely be my go to property
Taking me likely away from the Sheraton Gateway LAX where I've been a guest for 20 years more typically
I'm also anxious to see if the club lounge which is scheduled to open in January will be of good Hyatt standard
That will be a deal maker or breaker in my eyes
If there is one thing I would like to give a Pritzker Award too it would be to the Hyatt Regency LAX shuttle shared with the parking lot
Never in the history of LAX or any airport has there been a more proficient timely shuttle to and from an airport making it easily the best choice at LAX hands down presently^
