Hmm... is this new or perhaps I am misunderstanding. I fly Qantas a few times a year and get my WestJet points for these flights. 3 weeks ago I flew Perth to Sydney by purchasing the ticket on the Qantas website, entering my WestJet account and the points were posted on my WestJet account within the week.
