I had to look again, but this is also how a newly booked flight for LAX-HND-MSP-LAX shows. One over-water segment cleared on booking; the other two are waitlist. The two waitlist segments show two sets of seatmaps.

Previously, at least in late August, the waitlisted flights themselves were shown twice. The new way is looks cleaner and probably triggers fewer calls to Delta from people thinking it's an error.
