What went so terribly, appallingly wrong here is that the SCCM decided to plate up everything in the galley. If there are only a few rows of CE it does make sense on the longer routes, and I (and apparently many other passengers) prefer it that way since it gives a more personal touch than dolloping stuff off the trolley in mid aisle...
I still don't get this extra 'personal touch' experience. How is it more personal to have crew walk from the galley with your plate then reach over and put it on your tray; rather than, lift plate from trolley then reach over and put it on your tray ?
The only difference, as you point out, is the first method takes longer. Is that the real meaning of 'more personal' ?
