Yes AIG is from the US and has its HQ in NYC.
The policy they sent me on that reply email is the same one can download while making a booking on Emirates.com.

On the Policy doesnt mention anywhere the Iran specific cover which is interesting.

Local insurance is now mandatory in Iran and if one doesnt bring with him, it can be done at IKA, IFN, MHD airports, and price depends on length of the Iran stay.. i.e. two weeks to a month can cost approx 15-20 EUR and its quite explanative in terms of cover and which healthcare touch points can be used.
