I've cashed in some United miles and taking the family to the bottom of Africa and top of Europe next July. I'm looking to get a hotel chain credit card to be used for some free stays in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Oslo and Stockholm. It would be preferred to have the same brand if at all possible.
I'm Hyatt Diamond in the States but not really options in those places for their properties. Have some Marriott and Hilton points already as well.
Any suggestions on a good card to maximize some awards stays would be appreciated.
While there are more hotel choices specifically in Oslo and Stockholm, if you want to get hotels in other cities in Norway or Sweden, there's only three chains (that you can get US credit cards for) that you're likely to find: Club Carlson (Radisson), Choice, and Best Western. (And in the small towns inland among the fjords in western Norway, only Choice and Best Western.)
It so happens that Club Carlson (Radisson) has a presence in Capetown (and perhaps Johannesburg too). So depending on whether you're only going to stay in the capitals in Norway and Sweden or not, that might affect which hotel program(s) you need to consider.
