If I remember correctly, SIN has the same setup, at least in Terminal 1.

In a way, it's safer. Only passengers will go through the last security screening, and almost straight to the plane. The other workers at the airport - like restaurant servers, duty-free shop clerks - will not have the opportunity to slip something to a passenger after security check.

That also means every passenger, including those from connecting flights, will be screened again at that airport.
