Not the OP, but I would update your passport first. I saw while waiting for ABTC signature collection, or rather heard, a CBP officer deny GE because the passport name didn't match the other IDs.
The office and officer were
overall, but he did give her a direct phone number to the local office if the new passport didn't arrive before her GE application timed out (I think 30 days from the interview) or to check extended hours for a particular day. Also no appointment required. This was PDX, fwiw.
