Angry new coffee machines in RCCs

The other afternoon in SEA RCC an announcement was made that those wishing lattes, mochas etc. had best collect them as the machine was being unplugged and a 'great new machine' would be installed.

The old machine dispensed espresso, latte, cafe au lait, mocha, hot chocolate and several of the above in DECAF versions.

The new machines, already installed around the system, I've seen them at IAD, ORD, DEN and SFO, offer a series of "Cappacino" drinks with four or five options. All are impossibly sweet; most are flavors that would appeal to a lover of wine-coolers--i.e. they probably taste as good coming up as they did going down! And no decaf options.

A lot of travellers need decaf beverages. Why is the RCC management eliminating this option? (I know that the old machines were tricky to maintain and were a maintenance headache; but when they worked, they really worked well.)

AND, the new ones will dispense the steaming hot drink for as long as you push the button and then some. Hand-written messages warn to be carefl and to stop depressing the button when the beverage has reached the level of 2/3 cup.

It seems as if they solved one problem by inventing another. Or am I the only RCC member who has noticed or cared?
