An early evening departure would allow it to be at DXB at the same time as QF1 so PER pax could connect to LHR on QF1 while SYD pax could connect to Scotland.
Flights with those times could work with either GLA or EDI. EDI doesn't currently have EK service so if the QF/EK partnership continues on it would mean another European destination for them. GLA could also work - EK have two daily flights and a lounge there. A morning arrival complements the existing schedule.
I'd vote for that!
But it doesn't really make sense in terms of population distribution.
Already you can get from PER to GLA on the same day if you take the early EK flight from Perth.
Doesn't help me much in ABZ though.
Long term, I've always though that EDI should be developed as a northern UK hub airport with good access to northern Europe, and good access to local transport infrastructure. GLA is on the wrong side.
