Dine on Demand is exactly that - on demand. The prob is, different people, let alone different cultures, have different interpretations of that. I've found this to be the case on other airlines with this concept, and as pointed out the helicopter FA vs the on call FA. Some people interpret one or the other as terrible service. Perhaps airlines need to be a little more forthcoming in how passengers are expected to engage with the FAs.
