In-flight dining on Qatar long-haul flights in business class
Hi,
I recently flew JFK-DOH on QR in J.
The in-flight dining menu said business class pax could dine anytime they wanted, which I thought was pretty nice.
Even though I could eat anytime, I still had lunch right after take-off (I was on the 11 am flight out of JFK), and then watched some movies and napped for a few hours.
I woke up a couple of hours before landing, but decided to stay in bed till they start breakfast service.
I kept waiting and waiting but there was no breakfast service till the end (the lights were kept off as well) and once the plane started descending, they turned on the lights at that point and I was told I need to put my seat in the up-right position for landing.
I was a bit puzzled about the absence of breakfast (second meal) service and thought about asking the FAs about it but figured it was too late anyways so I didn't bother.
This experience made me wonder whether this is normal QR service practice.
I've been on a few other airlines that provide on-demand dining in premium cabins, but I was still always asked if I wanted breakfast (or the second meal) 1-2 hours before landing.
This time though, the QR FAs didn't ask me if I wanted my second meal.
In fact, the FAs didn't even walk around 1-2 hours before landing.
No one around my seat seemed to be eating the second meal as well, although I don't know if that's because they weren't hungry or they kept wondering about the second meal service just like me.
I'm wondering if their on-demand dining program means "if you don't ask, we won't ask, and this applies for both the first and second meal during the flight".
Is this normal QR practice?
