One of the issues in finding availability is that JJ is no longer part of *A.

So if you want to avoid a connection in Latin America, that severely limits your options. If you're looking for a J award, booking an award to GRU/EZE/SCL and adding a cheap revenue ticket (or using BA miles for flights within South America) may be a good option.
Sorry, left out some pertinent details as I'm multi-tasking at the moment.

J seats, 2 passengers.

When I have looked at EZE in the past (and today) I've found the availability predictable, be it on AC directly or on UA via IAH.

Have never looked at GIG previously, and just went through the UA calendar and saw no J seats a year (or less) from now.
