I've seen ET seat maps nearly empty right up until the day of departure as well, but then got on the plane and it's nearly full. I suspect that maybe Indonesia is similar to African countries in that way, maybe most people are getting tickets from travel agents rather than booking themselves online and not selecting seats until check-in.
