I came through Kuala Lumpur a few days ago for the first time. Into the terminal, down the escalator (showing my boading pass to the security men), through emigration, into the shuttle train to the remote terminal, across the airport which seemed completely empty of any aircraft (!), down the long pier past all the departure gates (completely empty), through the x-ray into my gate ....

Wait a minute, I thought. Didn't I go through any x-ray before this ? None of the other gates had x-ray units at their entrance that I could see. Do only Intercontinental passengers get checked ?
