The Great Circle mapper calculates the distance between YVR and SYD to be 6741 nm (7757 statute miles). It would seem then at a first approximation that the A340-313X has the range for nonstop service. The head winds on this route are nowhere as strong as North Pacific or North Atlantic.

What am I missing?
