Suite upgrade has never been a stated benefit for either Gold or Diamond.

When I stay at a Hilton hotel with an executive level, I have always been upgraded to a room on that floor and given lounge access.

However, when I stay at a hotel that doesn't have an executive floor, then I usually don't get anything.
