Reading backwards the upgrade accomodation offered to Diamonds (and Golds), for Garden Inns it says one should be upgraded to a suite, and only if that is not possible would one get breakfest coupons OR that famed $5 coupon for use at the pantry.
Two stays recently, no upgrades of any type. Most recent one, hotel was quite empty, and they said they did not have the resources to service the suites. I asked, "even if I paid for it?" Of course then they did have the resources. (I didn't pay, and got a small room).
Past years, no trouble in upgrading to better rooms (though never a suite, as mentioned in the most recent HH benefits). I assume this was another string of Hilton bad luck for me. Or was it a change of policy??
My new Diamond level doesn't seem to be getting me any better benefits than Gold, but will have a string of Hiltons coming up to check this out (previous stays weren't trouble-free, either).
