The main issue with banking in BA, AA or even QF or CX is the minimum sector requirement on the "home" carrier - status not possible unless flying them.

Based in SIN it's not too difficult to get the QF sectors as Jetstar flights with the bag inclusive "plus" package (which costs a marginally more than just adding bag) count towards QF sector count. Not that QF program is one that I would recommend.
