Let me
repeat, what I wrote on March 6th 2004,
GUWunder:
- LX will join OW in the middle of 2004.
- BA & LX formally signed a bilateral cooperation agreement on October 22nd 2003. One part of this agreement is, that TC will be gradually integrated into Executive Club, the frequent flyer programme of BA.
At the time
BA & LX negotiated this agreement, there was no doubt about it, that at the moment LX will join OW, EC
is the FFP of LX. During the transition process at least part of LX’s management was no longer happy with this contract and they tried to negotiate this issue once more. It does not surprise me, that BA was not ready to do this, therefore[list]
• LX will invite their customer to join EC (maybe with some incentives like bonus miles if we fly a certain amount of flight within a given time frame)
• EC will match TC Silver to EC Silver and TC Gold/Circle to EC Gold (no match to Premier Status)
• EC’s Terms & Conditions will apply (eg discount Coach class earns 25% miles flown, Business Class Award ZRH-PEK vv 180k)
At the time EC is the FFP of LX, it will no longer be possible to earn miles on our TC account. But we can spend these miles until a given date within the current conditions of TC.
Honestly speaking
GUWonder, I do neither see that BA is screwing around LX nor that BA will do anything to sabotage LX. Please remember that LX has a lot of options after SRs grounding and that at the end of a long way it was their management's decision to
join OW under the negotiated conditions. I fully understand that are more and more people at LX who do not like some of these conditions, but did you heard any dissent as
Andre Dose presented the bilateral cooperation agreement with BA? In September/October 2003 in the eye of LX it must be their best option, if not, why did they close the deal?
As there is no substantial news since last October, IMO one of LXs weakest link is their readiness to communicate their BA deal to the general public.
BTW: It’s on sole decision of LX who long they let us spend TC miles (no interest on BA side), but the shorter the period is, the cheaper it is for LX!
