The galley is behind, so the crew will be regularly coming and going from there more often than passengers/crew forward. If you want a pair of seats together then I would suggest 3E/F, although all are the same size.
The seat mechanism extends under the seat when going flat, so I don't think there would be space under for a dog. I wouldn't worry too much about the choice of seat, I'm sure the crew will be able to assist on the day.
