We like the train but it will not work for this trip, coming at the end of three weeks in Europe so we will be in a different time zone. The Vancouver to Seattle run, departing around 5:30 pm, would have us traveling in the middle of the night, Austria time.

I looked into a one-way rental car and it is higher than flying.

We do have some wallet funs which are expiring sometime in March so we could use those to bring the cost down. $163 isn't really high enough to justify using a companion fare certificate, but maybe I should re-think that.

Can I combine wallet funds with a Companion Certificate?
