If it was really so important, they just wouldn't let you take electronic devices onto aircraft full stop rather than take a risk that the 6-year old child at the back is still listening to his Walkman.

The failsafe systems on aircraft are excellent and in the unlikely event of any interference the aircraft would simply initiate a go-around. But obviously that's not ideal.
