Does Air India Check Bags to EY on Separate Tickets?

I am planning to fly JDH-DEL-AUH. DEL-AUH departs at 21:05 and I have the two options:

1) Take AI 476 that gets into DEL at 19:00 (so 2:05 connection)
2) Take 9W 2824 that gets into DEL at 15:05 (6:00 connection)

JDH-DEL and DEL-AUH will be on separate tickets and I have bags to check.

6 hours in DEL sounds like a bad option - EY check-in doesn't open until 3 hours before departure (and closes 1 hour before departure for F/J). It's too short to get a nearby hotel room or venture into the city.

2:05 hours in DEL seems a little risky especially with DEL traffic/fog delays (flight is in a few weeks).

Which flight would you recommend and if it's the 9W flight, what is there to do at/around DEL for 6 hours? Also, will 9W or AI check my bags to EY if it's on a separate ticket? Thank you!
