Yes, there has been a lot of international growth recently. But there is also some natural contractions sometimes as well.

For example, look at Japan. AC used to fly to KIX and NGO, as well as NRT. Then KIX and NGO were cancelled and that left only NRT. Now AC flies to NRT, HND and KIX. That counts as 200% expansion into Japan, but is the same number of airports served in the past.
