No DCC is possible in the Maldives if you have a USD denominated card. It will process USD natively.
Did the receipt have the thermal X check on INR something like:
[ ] USD
[X] INR
The first one for me to sign had no checkmark. The second one also had no checkmark but it was like two receipts in one, where the second part (further down the receipt) had the price like it would normally be charged in INR without the mastercard currency opt-out text.
