we FlyerTalkers had a cheese fondue at the Walliser Kanne this march-1st 2004 at the FT Morgenstraich-Do.

Gisela and I agreed afterwards that this was one of the worst Fondue experiences we ever had (cheese quality), but the reason may unique and exceptional because it was during the totally overcrowded carneval time.

Driving the North side of Lake Tahoe (Squaw Valley to Heavenly/Stateline) several times in the last 5 years, we found many (at least 6) swiss owned restaurants all offering swiss food (all offering cheese fondue as well, some, at least two, did also offer Raclette) during winter time (not sure about summer time).

The most authentic BEST (my personal opinion/judgement) Fondue and Raclette in the USA (but cheese made in Wisconsin ...) was served in New Glarus, about a one hours drive from Madison, Wisconsin (a village founded by ex-swiss farmers from the canton of Glarus) - I did business with them, delivering swiss white wines (and Glarus beer made by the Hürlimann-brewery in Zürich) that accompany these cheese specialities perfectly.
