My grandma has never flown and I think she's never gone to a different country either. In fact, I don't think she's gone beyond a 50 mile radius of her village more than a handful of times in her life. My elders on that side of the family were stern, rural people who didn't seem to need much beyond the most basic things. She's the last one of em. All the younger people have gone on numerous foreign vacations and so forth and in fact in my generation quite a few in my extended family, including myself, have lived and worked abroad.
