My question was referring to a club to which you belong -- not a guest, but a paying member. Why is tipping necessary at a club?
I believe tipping of employed bartenders at a private club or function is appropriate and expected.
And I think you're right, JS. I'm curious why we don't refer to salaried waitstaff and bartenders in Europe who do not rely on tips as earning TIBS (To Insure Bad Service).
