Hi Guys,
Not sure if I should ask here. But I can't think of a better place to seek help. Please let me know if I should move this thread elsewhere.
I have a Citi banking account (for 7 years) and three Citi credit cards. All three are linked with my banking account (i.e. sharing the same online access). I have recently moved outside the U.S. and will not be able to travel back anytime soon.
I only realized they sent me a new ATM/Debit Card after I left, and my family in the States where I have my mailing address also forgot to let me know, so I failed to activate that card. I lost my online access since then.
At first I thought it's just because I haven't activated my new ATM card, so I requested a new one, and they did deliver it really quick. My family brought it to me so I activated it right away. But even after I activated my ATM card, I still can't access my online portal. Called Citi and they kept telling me I reported a wrong SSN number, and that I need to visit a branch in person to solve it.
It's really scary as I couldn't even think of a reason how I suddenly have a "wrong" SSN. I even used the very same number back in July when I applied for my third Citi credit card and it was approved. It's really a mystery to me.
So now I lost my online access to my bank account, and therefore my all three credit card accounts. I can no longer check my balance online. I am not too worried about my bank account as I don't have too much balance in Citi, but I still prefer to use Citi cards when I am abroad. I simply wonder if anyone has any advice (or has experienced similar situation). What should I do now to resolve it?
I would definitely love to regain access to everything (banking + CC), but if it's just not possible without a physical visit to a branch, am I able to de-link my credit card online portal from my banking, so that I can at least have access to view my bill and balance? How should I do it?
Thanks for any reply in advance!
