ETA: I see the OP is in UK, and these measurements apply. But still, I'm with GentleGiant - 6" makes a huge difference, whether it's between King & Queen or Queen & Double. I wouldn't be happy with a downgrade.
In SE Asia things are worse. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a "queen bed" that was a full. And maybe 1 in 10 times is a king actually a king.
