Go in Instagram or Twitter and look up hashtags for travel, airplane, ticket, boarding pass and the like and you will find hundreds of people posting pictures of their boarding passes. There is nothing stopping someone malicious from ordering them kosher meals, moving their seats, or outright cancelling their flight.
You can check out stories from Lucky at One Mile At A Time to see how bad it can get. He is super paranoid about every picture he posts now because people will jump on any error.
As for friends or family, I wouldn't really worry about it. If anything, it's typically beneficial as is someone who can help if things go sideways. I've recovered bookings for a variety of people over the years that were only possible because I had their tickets handy, and others have done the same for me.
In the old "you must phone for upgrade" days there used to be frequent assistance provided back and forth on this board when people were due to be in the air when the upgrade window opened. I can recall at least one board member being told "you sure do have a lot of husbands" after a few of us called to help out
