Service wise Cathay is generally very good. Maybe more rigid than BA but the CC are generally lovely. If you have status they will most likely come and say Hello and usually done by Cabin Crew member in black uniform or it is in my experience. The food is ok. It had gone downhill recently in my opinion.
Lounges in HKG are a treat, even the business class lounges. I am usually in F Lounges but the QF lounge is brilliant. Great coffee and sitting at the bar is a treat. By all accounts the new Pier Business class lounge is very good so might be worth heading over to 60's gates even if your flight is from a lower gate. HKG airport in general is just fun to be around.
Have a great trip. Perth is a wonderful city and hope you get the chance to visit some of the brilliant wineries in the region. I will attach some photos of a flight just a few weeks ago where I had the whole mini cabin on the 777 to myself.
Thanks for the great info, we picked window seats as the layout reminds me of ba first on the 747, am surprised they aren't as private as club window seats.
Am looking forward to Hong Kong airport and will be sure to try all the lounges, shame the Heathrow one won't be open.
Will definitely be sampling some wineries down in Margaret River!
