The first CC member I spoke to told me only 4 had been loaded for the entire plane (i.e. all of CW), but the 2nd said there were only 4 per CW cabin. If that's the case, you may be better off in a sparsely populated cabin when it comes to meal selection.
It is loaded by cabin on the A380, however, we will still ask the same cabin on the other deck if they have a spare X, Y or Z if we have ran out of it upstairs or downstairs.

And, I imagine the flight where they ran out of fruit would have been from the US? There was a change to the catering recently out of the US where they have switched the loading of fruit V yoghurt, which used to be 90% fruit and 10% yoghurt, but when I was in IAD a few weeks ago, whilst the catering exec was telling me my loading, he said BA had switched it around as it was cheaper to load 80% yoghurt than have the bigger proportion cut fruit. I don't know if that is true or not, but we had the same issue, fruit gone by the second row of CW.
