In school if you wanted to shower after physical education you showered naked, and there are no dividers or anythiung between the showers. Chanigng clothes in the locker room also naked without any problem, the same goes for the gym. Only at my current gym there are dividers between the showers but it's at the university campus and there are many international students who might be uncomfortable with their own body (such as English prudish people), which I think is why they put them there. Normal gyms do not have dividers between showers.
We went on a school trip to Finland and when we entered the traditional Finnish sauna all the boys in my class just went in naked without problem.
Etc.
My US schools' gym showers are just like the school showers I've seen in Nordic and other northern Schengen country school gyms -- in also being open cattle call type areas to wash down. And as someone who swam a lot in school too, I saw a lot of gym showers courtesy of swim meets.
And normal gyms too do have dividers between showers, even as the school showers may not. I've seen plenty of relatively old pool houses in Northern Europe where the showers are like cubicles with dividers in between.
